Avertana’s technology comprehensively refines industrial waste into multiple products that are important raw materials for industry. Each has widespread applications across large existing markets, each in the millions up to hundreds of millions of tonnes annually. This provides Avertana with a broad exposure to a variety of markets across multiple industry sectors, diversifying both risks and opportunity.
TiO2
A high opacity white pigment used in paints, plastics, paper and other industries where white colour, hiding power (opacity), or UV protection are needed.
Aluminium sulfate (alum)
An important chemical for potable and wastewater purification, as well as papermaking. Alum is the world’s largest-volume flocculant and coagulant, used to clarify both drinking and wastewater.
Magnesium sulfate
Commonly known as Epsom salts, magnesium sulphate is used in papermaking, fertiliser, consumer products and animal feeds. Avertana’s process can make both the Epsom salts (heptahydrate) and kieserite (monohydrate) formats of this product.
Gypsum
An essential input for building materials such as cement, wallboards and plasters, gypsum is also used as a soil conditioner and in health, consumer, and personal care applications.
CalSi
A proprietary cement additive product unique to Avertana’s process. CalSi imparts set retarding properties to cement, while reducing the amount of clinker used without loss of compressive strength.
Other products
Avertana is also developing process pathways to downstream derivatives of these products, expanding prospective market opportunities and mitigation market concentration risk.
