No residual waste, minimal environmental impact

Avertana’s proprietary process technology refines waste slag from the steel industry into valuable chemical and mineral raw materials used to make everyday products, while leaving nothing behind. Our technology also emits significantly less CO2 than legacy manufacturing processes.

Our process is hydrometallurgy based and uses carefully controlled, highly selective precipitation and crystallisation to separate the different components of waste slag into discrete product streams. The composition and physical properties of each product stream are finely tuned to meet the market application and end uses it serves.

Titanium dioxide (TiO2) | Aluminium Sulfate | Magnesium Sulphate | Gypsum

Products made by Avertana’s process have a wide range of everyday applications:

  • pigment used to make paints, plastics and paper
  • potable water treatment
  • papermaking
  • feeds and fertilisers
  • building products, including cement and plasterboard.
